After quite a successful promotion yesterday which saw In Strange Company rise in the top 23% within the ranks of 2 million plus books on Kindle store, I have decided to promote this work another way. I’ve dropped the price by a dollar, so now it’s $3.99 from $4.99 (USD). That’s perhaps a little less than the average cup of coffee these days.
No, don’t close the window yet because you are thinking this is a promotion thing… it’s a bit more than that. Perhaps, after you read this, you may want to get a copy if you haven’t already, or reblog it, and pass it into your own circles of bloggers, friends and other networks.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I am very interested in making movies, writing stories that count, that can make you think, or perhaps bring a tear to your eyes. Having previously co-written and directed a feature film and thoroughly enjoying every moment of it, I’ve had my heart set on making a movie about women’s activism, voice and the basic right over information that can empower and help in self-protection. It’s been an issue that has always been on my mind, and I would like to develop the idea I have and see it become a movie that starts conversations around the world, especially countries where such things are swept under the carpet.
…but without much funding, I don’t know how far I can get. Not very far, I imagine. Hence the reason I’m promoting In Strange Company. As silly as this sounds, I’m hoping to try to raise funds to be able pursue the idea further, do a bit more research and hopefully one day see the movie to completion.
Hence, I just wanted to let you know that the book is a little cheaper than it has been thus far, and I do have a few other ‘free’ promotion days planned in the future. I would love it if the word was passed around to either raise awareness of the book or the upcoming promos.
Anyway, thank you for reading my words again.
As a fellow movie guy, you can always count on me for some support. 🙂
The book I’m writing is about a movie that destroys the universe. 🙂

Interesting plot! A movie that destroys. How far along are you? I’m on the gritty stage of planning the treatment.
And thank you! 🙂 for the support

I only have about 8,000 words of it so far. I was meant to finish it back in July of this year but I’m aiming for a December release now (if I’m lucky AKA stop being distracted by video games and/or other mindless entertainment).
Is that feature film on Youtube or something? I’d like to see it. I’m a pretty big movie guy. I even finished a screenwriting course a few years ago.

I’m aiming for a feature, possibly around 70 min. Lets see, my plot is quite complex with 4 characters

I’m aiming to have mine completed by end of year too, but then again I’m also aiming to finish my second novel by then. I have to say I’m a bit stuck with my feature plot as I need to do some more research.

Wait, is it a documentary? If not, I’m sure you’ll have no problem getting funding from Screen Australia (or whatever they’re called nowadays) since they love that kind of material.
I’m assuming you’re from Australia right (from an earlier post)?

Initial idea was for a doco, but I was advised by a veteran documentary maker that this particular piece will be a bit too risky to pull of safely in that format. I was advised hence advised to turn it into a feature film.

And yes, I’m from Australia. Have actually thought I will approach ScreenNSW with it after I’m done.
