Separate Worlds

Will the days grow long
over the high hills
that drop into valleys deep?
Will the flowers bloom big and bright
for birds and insects alike
hover over them in glee?
Does thy rivers flow slow and patient
or do they hurtle down to town
flooding farm fields wide?
How does the Sun fare across the sky
does it sting the skin as ours
warm and nurturing?
Do the fruits taste as sweet
be as big or bigger still
to fill a tummy or two?
How is your world
on the other side of this invisible wall
that stands between you and me?

  1. Great verse. What resonates is encapsulated in the closing line viz. “How is your world
on the other side if this invisible wall that stands between you and me?”

What is it that makes us believe that the world on the other side is different? How could we shift our perspective to believe that this other world is indeed the same for you and me? How then would we show up to each other?
