The Immortals

To be thus standing
beneath big span of black
as though if I were to reach out
reach up into the air
I would no doubt touch the stars
that be lingering in heavens
teasing the heart
their twinkle, their light
their ever steadfast path
over constellations, the universe vast
they watch us from afar
safe in the knowledge
that we can’t bring them any closer to Earth.
The human in us ever jealous of immortals.
