These dreams.

The dreams too heavy to hold

the human in me bold

but not an invincible soul

who upon years and years, toils

the earth caked and parched

hoping, praying for a drop of rain

a solace, the unfamiliar comfort

of mercy that drenches

and from the land dead

a green leaf emerges.

It’s a dream, oh baby,

just a dream,

ones that vanishes in a wisp

with the coming light of day.

Heavy, so heavy,

the burden I bear,

unable to shake the wanting

the dreaming that dreams of life

where life has left.

So heavy. These dreams

with the mightiest imprint, I swear.

If only. To forget.

  1. this is lovely. the imagery is powerful. you have a way with words.

’tis funny… dreams must be topical right now – i’ve just uploaded a piece about dreams. dreams are infinite. dreams are what sets us apart. without dreams, we are but vessels.

    1. Thank you for your kind words!
It must be something weighing on people’s minds, after all we all have a treasure trove of dreams on a daily basis. Some dream of a coffee in the morning and some dream of life to take a change. 🙂 hope your dreams aren’t too heavy, not today.
