May I tell you a tale tonight?
A tale that may not be worthy?
May I tell you a tale tonight,
so tomorrow you remember me?
Through the light of the fire, and grit of sand below,
sweeping ocean teasing at your feet, trying to reach a higher shore.
Let me tell you a tale indeed,
of a man who would have swam for thee,
across all the oceans eyes can see.
The tale goes something like this…
He was a man, of fewer words,
and fewer were his wants and needs.
He lived life content,
white picket fence house, wife and kids.
As he grew old, he also knew,
there were many a things he’d have liked to do,
perhaps ‘next time’ he said,
eyes closed against the grey,
letting the ocean of eternity sweep him away.
I did not say this tale was a happy one,
it is the story of a man who lived life barely noticing it.
And the tale went something like this…
