Blurb Trailing: for a new novel

The last few months, I’ve been concentrating on taking my third novel from being left unfinished at chapter 12, and been trying to complete it. I’m nearing the climax and the end, and have already written 12 more chapters to it. Bringing the grand total so far to 24 completed chapters, and a tempo set for climax and the dramatic finish.

I can’t wait! It’s been a long journey to say the least. I started this particular book three years ago or more, almost right after I finished writing ‘Charming Mr. Stewart’. Then I graduated teaching, went out into the workforce and lost all my time and energy. The current book was abandoned not because I wanted to but because I simply had no capacity in my life to focus on it at that time.

Now, 2019 or mid way since, I’ve had time, and I’ve been writing; short scripts, feature scripts, experimental pieces, blog posts, occasional poetry, and I’ve been brainstorming a lot. Plus, I aimed to finish the next book. I’m co close I can see ‘The End’.

But writing a story isn’t enough. I’ll have to polish it, edit it, proofread it, and if it’s good enough, query it. So, here’s where my post comes in today. Can I get your help with something? Something simple but profoundly huge for me. Can I get your opinion/comments/feedback on the following blurb for my next book?

Here it is. Without giving away title no genre…

The damsel-in-distress of this modern tale, the maiden in need of a savior, the princess who awaits her brave knight… is… Chad Gillian, an awkward lad from DownUnder, who is isolated in his semi-empty fortress that’s not really a fortress but his home, held captive not by dragons but his own fear. His fear of failing. Fear of the page, blank and unwavering, daring him to spin a tale worthy. A tale to make men jealous and feel inept, and for women to swoon, hot and bothered in their want, hanging onto his ever word. Chad is a writer gripped with fear of a looming deadline and the knowledge that he has nothing to offer. Not yet anyway.

He can see it happening, the date of delivery, the ticking clock on the wall, the scowl of disappointment on his editor’s face. Her eyes narrowed into slits as she rips up his contract and boots him out of her office. The loud, final thud of her door!

No. He must find a muse, any muse, and write a damn story! His name and fame, or rather, the name and fame of his pseudonym, Zachary Eve, relies on it.

In wanders a beautiful, vivacious, young woman named June Amari, to save his bacon, if only he can get past the piles of overlarge clothing, the appearance of homelessness, and a vipers temper she showcases.

When a chance meeting and a series of events bring them together, reluctant of course, under the same roof, Chad’s roof, words begin to flow once more in his life. Hallelujah!

But can Chad keep his fledgling feelings and the new book under wraps long enough to save his career, woo June, and pray his family never learns the truth about the new woman in his life? He won’t know it till he tries, will he?

How did I do? Good? Bad? Terrible I should burn it? 🤞
