Book Reviews

I’ve set myself a little challenge! I will read a book at a time, throughout the year.

I used to be a voracious reader once upon a time. Now, isn’t that weird coming from someone who claims to be a writer? I’d think so, but here is the reality. It’s not easy starting out in this field, not by a long shot. Everyone keeps telling us that we as writers are mad to want to get in this field. The early years are the hardest, and I’m currently in those years still. I’m still having to work hard not only on the writing itself, the stories, but I’m also trying to build the platform, an audience for the work I do. Let’s face it, without you, we are nothing. Our writing is nothing and it will have be a futile dream. But as it is, you readers, are still out there in abundance, and until such time that I don’t have to struggle to get there in front of you waving crazily my works like yesterday’s newspaper, then, and then only can I concentrate mostly on the writing.

Till such a day arrives, I have decided I will share any book reviews my works have received or receive in the future. And better yet, I have decided to get back into reading other authors works once again, get in touch with the reader in me which has been neglected for a long stretch of time. I have vowed to read a novel at a time, and review that piece as honestly as I can before picking up another read. This way, I am continuing my education as a writer, as well as bringing you little bites of reviews that might help you find your next favourite read.

I read mostly fiction, so apologies to non-fiction readers and writers. If  you are a writer who wants their work read and reviewed, feel free to contact me with the title of your work, the genre and the blurb, and I’ll slot you in on my next read if it is something that peaks my interest. I say this with upmost respect. I would hate to take a book off an author with the promise to read, but if the topic is something that doesn’t interest in the first place, I feel the review will not have the same integrity. If I do however take your book on, please know that I am a struggling writer and will love it if I get a complimentary copy, or something in the ballpark of couple of dollars I can afford.

These are the genres I’m most interested in but not limited to: Drama, Contemporary romance, action-adventure, YA, fantasy, espionage.
